Things to Know:

  • Library card applications require confirmation of residency. Bring a photo ID. We may also accept a utility bill as proof of residency.
  • Children are invited to sign up for their first library card at age 5.
  • Library cards are issued to individuals and may not be shared.
  • Patrons may authorize other individuals to pick up books on hold.
  • Library cards are required at check-out.

Library Card Eligibility:

Any Peterborough resident, or non-resident owning taxable real estate in Peterborough, is eligible for a library card free of charge. The following individuals are also eligible for library cards:

  • Conval High School students with a current Conval ID Card

  • MacDowell colonists, while in residence, shall be issued temporary cards

  • Visiting artists at Peterborough Players shall be issued temporary cards
  • Any business that owns or rents property in Peterborough may have issued three employee Library cards, with the written permission of the business owner.

Non-Resident Cards:

Non-resident cards are individual cards, with the fee of $68.00. The fee is approved by the Library Trustees, up to but not to exceed the current Peterborough per capita.
Residents of the Town of Sharon shall be issued cards upon request, owing to the contractual arrangement currently in place with the Sharon Board of Selectmen.
