This exhibit is a collection of her most recent watercolors, all of which were painted on the coast of New Hampshire.
While the seashore has been a favorite location for Diane to paint, these paintings show some “more unique approaches to depicting our coast.” The exhibit includes many close-up works where Diane expertly paints the “often overlooked coastal details like shells, rocks, and vegetation” in large format, bringing the tiny details to the forefront of her paintings.
Using watercolors to paint her seascapes, Diane bends the rules of traditional watercolor artists and instead makes them feel more like oil paintings when she varnishes them, or like pastels with more “spontaneity and texture” than traditional watercolor paintings.
Diane’s exhibit will be up through the month of November and will be available to view during regular library hours. Diane is from Wilton, New Hampshire.
