Reception Thursday 1/12 at 5pm
//Book Title Illustrations Exhibit by the Monadnock Camera Club on view at the Peterborough Town Library
PETERBOROUGH—The Peterborough Town Library is featuring work by members of the Monadnock Camera Club. Their exhibit, “Book Title Illustrations” will be up for the entire month of January and a reception will be held on Thursday, January 12th from 5-7pm.
The idea of the exhibit came from a discussion between the library’s Assistant Director, Mary Hubbard, and the President of the Monadnock Camera Club, Linda Greenwood. Staff members at the library submitted a long list of their favorite books and club members chose book titles from that list to creatively illustrate with their photographs. The exhibit was previously on display at the Stephenson Memorial Library in Greenfield, NH.
Aimee LaRue, Community Art Coordinator at the Peterborough Town Library was happy to hear of the exhibit while it was in its early stages. “I loved the exhibit idea as soon as I heard it,” she said, “and immediately began wondering about how the photographs may or may not correspond with the actual content/storyline of the book.”
LaRue also said that “This creative collaboration is exactly how the Peterborough Town Library would like to become more involved with the artists and organizations of the Monadnock region, working together to show our community how integrated the arts can be into our everyday lives.”
The Monadnock Camera Club meets the third Thursday of the month from September to June. The meetings are held in the Jaffrey Civic Center on Main Street and begin at 7pm. The club is affiliated with the New England Camera Club Council and participates in their competitions three times a year in several categories. Members enjoy field trips, exhibiting in various venues and participating in monthly assignments. The goal of the club is to help photographers at all levels improve skills in a variety of photographic areas. Guests are always welcome.
