Peterborough resident Volkert Volkersz was born in Amsterdam and raised in Seattle. He was 15 years old when he learned about the war in Vietnam–timed with his arrival at a new boarding school in Canada. After briefly resisting the draft, he joined the “Jesus Freaks,” and then applied for and received conscientious objector status.
This is his story during the turbulent Sixties.
