Open Hours

Effective Monday, September 14th, the Library is offering Brief Visits and Limited Browsing hours from 12 pm-6 pm Monday-Friday.

All NEW items and special displays are available to browse and check-out. The remainder of the collection is in our offsite storage. Request any available book and it will be ready in 24 hours!

Please note: The Library Trustees voted to REQUIRE masks in the temporary library facility. There are no restrooms available at our temporary satellite location.

The Library has moved to 1 Jaffrey Road in the Monadnock Community Plaza. We are in Unit 2 next to the Pearl Restaurant.

Newspapers

We have current subscriptions to the Wall Street Journal and the Monadnock Ledger. We will be adding back more newspapers by request. Please keep your visit brief when reading newspapers.

Curbside Services

We are still offering our convenient curbside services. Curbside service is available from 10am-6pm Monday- Friday.

You may place holds as before, by logging in to your account online, searching/browsing the catalog. You may also call us at 924-8040.

We will email or call you to notify you when your hold is ready for pick-up.

If you place a hold on an item currently checked out, we will email or call you when the item is returned and ready for you to pick up.

Visit the library and retrieve your materials from the outside table from 10am-6pm M-F.

Help with Placing Holds

Placing holds has been simplified. Simply log in to your account, search for an item, and click “Place Hold”. We will notify you when the item is ready. Watch this short tutorial to see a demo.

Public Technology is Available

Computer appointments are available Monday-Friday. Please call the library or email us to reserve a one-hour timeslot. Masks are required and will be provided if you need one. Full details on Public technology can be found here.

Ask a Librarian– We are available!

We are answering the phones M-F from 10am-4pm. Call 924.8040. We are answering emails too at Library @ PeterboroughNH.gov. Whatever it is, we can help point you in the right direction.

Library Cards

We are able to sign people up by phone or email. Simply contact us with your Peterborough address, email address, and phone number and we will give you the card number and instructions on how to get started with the eLibrary.

If you are a nonresident and would like a Peterborough library card, please mail the application fee of $68 to the library. We will contact you with your library card information when it is received.

Books, DVDs, and Audiobooks

We are offering curbside access to the print collection. Full details are here. Please check out the eLibrary to see the full suite of resources available. We offer Libby, Hoopla, RB Digital, Lynda.com, Transparent Language, and more. If you need help with any of the steps to use the eLibrary, please ask! We can help you by phone or send you screenshots or help videos. Let’s figure it out together.

Returns and Renewals

You may return items 24 hours a day 7 days a week to our freestanding book return right out front of the temporary library space.

All items will be quarantined for 72 hours before they checked in. Please don’t be worried if the items remain on your account during the time we need to safely process these returns. PTL is fine free!

Storytime and Kids Resources

We are doing online storytime! Email LBearce @ PeterboroughNH.gov to be added to her list. We will publish the online storytime on our social media and event page on our website.

We do have eBooks for kids! Both Libby/Overdrive and Hoopla offer kids items. Check them out in the eLibrary.

Teens and Tweens

Aimee has set up a virtual hang-out for teens and a monthly book club. Email ALarue @ PeterboroughNH.gov to be added to her newsletter list. You can view the latest teen newsletter here.

Career Help and Employment

Yes we can help you! Email Library @ PeterboroughNH.gov and we will work with you on whatever you need help with— resumes, cover letters, career coaching, unemployment, and other assistance.

WiFi

Yes we have wifi in the parking lot at 1 Jaffrey Road in the Monadnock Plaza. Please park in the lined spaces in front of Unit #2. The network and password are posted on the windows.

Printing

We are still offering print-on-demand services. If you need a document printed, email us (Library @ PeterboroughNH.gov) and we will print it for you. Staff are here intermittently so we will let you know when it might be available.
