Starting June 15, the library will begin offering curbside services.

Please note the library has moved! We are no longer at 2 Concord street. The temporary library is located at 1 Jaffrey road, Unit # 2 in the Monadnock Plaza.

How do I return my items?

Monday- Friday 10 AM – 4 PM there will be return bins at our new location at 1 Jaffrey Road Unit # 2.  

Saturday and Sunday: CLOSED

Please note the library temporary space is not open yet. Staff will not be available for in-person services or conversations.

Am I required to return my checkouts?

Not at this time. We will continue to renew checked out items until June 30th. Feel free to hold onto your books but if you are ready to return them, we are ready to take them back.

How will returning items work?

Please use the designated bins on the sidewalk outside our new location at 1 Jaffrey Road, Unit # 2 (Monday-Friday 10am-2pm).

All returned library materials will be quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours. Only after quarantine will they be checked in – so please do not worry if they still appear in your online account for several days. After the quarantine period, all items will be wiped down with a disinfectant before they are reshelved.

Please do not return items to the 2 Concord street library location—we are all moved out and this building will soon be under construction.

Curbside Pickup

The library will begin offering curbside pickup June 15 using our online catalog or by phone.

You may place holds as before, by logging in to your account online, searching/browsing the catalog.

  1. When you place your hold online, you will be prompted to choose a pick-up time. We ask for 24 hours to prepare your items. Holds will be available for pick-up Tuesday-Friday and in accordance to your preferred pick-up time.
  2. If you place a hold on an item currently check out, we will call you when the item is ready and schedule a pick-up time.
  3. Visit the library and retrieve your materials from the outside table. At this time, you may also return any items you have out, using the library-approved procedure.

How will I pick up my holds?

Items will be placed in front of the temporary library entrance, in paper bags labeled with your last name. Items will already be checked out to you – so feel free to take your bag and go! This is a no-touch service, meaning that staff will not be outdoors or answering the door if you are knocking. Please do not return the paper bags used for this service.

At this time the library building will remain closed to the public.

How can I find out if my holds are ready?

You will select a pick-up time when you place your hold–Unless the item you are requesting is currently checked out. In that case, we will call you when the item is ready for you to pick up.

How do I place holds on items?

I don’t have a library card! Can I use this service?

Please call the library between the hours of 10am-4pm Monday-Friday or email us at to sign up for a a library card remotely.

Can I request items the library does not currently have in the collection?

No. At this time, we are not taking item requests. We will reinstate the online order request form after staff have caught up on their scheduled orders and we have mastered the routine procedures for item returns and curbside services in our new temporary library.

Can I request items from other libraries?

No. At this time, we are not receiving items from the schools or from other NH libraries.

Can I request additional items after I reserve my pickup time?

You can reserve additional items, per pickup, but if you reserve more items after your pickup time is confirmed, we cannot promise they will make it into your package.

What safety precautions is the library taking?

We have created cleaning protocols and procedures for all library staff and spaces.

In accordance with other town departments, we are not yet opening our physical spaces to the public. We are preparing for later phases in our reopening plan.

The library has taken the following steps:

  • Completed a detailed cleaning of the temporary library space
  • Creating a schedule for disinfecting frequently used surfaces
  • Obtained adequate stores of disinfectant and hand sanitizer, as well as protective gear for staff

All staff will be wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing while in the building.

In addition, we will be quarantining all returning items for a minimum of 72 hours and disinfecting them before checking them in and returning them to the collection shelves.

All staff will be wearing protective gear while handling any materials prepared for circulation to the public.

The temporary library will be operated with the minimum number of library staff, to avoid opportunities for contact.

How long will you offer this service?

Until further notice. Our service levels are determined by our Interim Pandemic Service Plan. This plan is dependent on public health information and other criteria. You can view the full plan here and our Pandemic Policy here.
