“When we visit Peterborough, we are so intrigued by its beauty, by its multi – cultural offerings ranging from theater to music to art, by its eateries and shops, and most of all, by the interesting people!” These are the words of a recent customer, who I met at my part time job downtown. Clearly, our community is filled with people and ideas that reflect a great deal of intellect, curiosity, and creativity.
The Peterborough Town Library is a significant cornerstone of our community and the learning opportunities it offers include programs and gatherings designed for people of all ages and interests. A new library that offers artfully designed spaces for people to gather, as well as beautiful spaces where their intellect, curiosity and creativity will thrive, will make Peterborough an even more dynamic community for both residents and visitors.
In reflecting on Peterborough’s rich history and distinction as having the first tax-supported public library in the nation, I cannot think of a more important project for me to support than the library project! It is a place that serves the lifelong learning for so many different people, ranging in age from little toddlers to elderly folks. Whether it be to enhance their digital technology skills, meet others to brainstorm, explore avenues for success as entrepreneurs, find literature, or attend a presentation–the library is free and open to all!
As a trustee of our library, I am proud to support our building project. It is a project that has evolved over several years, and is one that requires much time, thought, expertise, and collaboration from all of the talented people involved. Please read about our project here.
Jeanie is a retired teacher and administrator of the ConVal School District. She and her husband Gib (now grandparents to two little girls!) have lived in Peterborough since 1980, where they raised their sons, both of whom are living and working in New Hampshire. She and her husband Gib have always felt it is a privilege to live in a place like Peterborough and to be a part of the education of its students, as well as those from the surrounding towns. Jeanie believes that serving as a Peterborough Town Library Trustee is an honor, as it provides her an opportunity to continue service to the town.
