I just returned from a week holiday on the West Coast to reconnect with family and friends. On my flight out, my bags were overloaded with presents. I really didn’t have room for one more thing. So I decided to download an e-book as my traveling companion and protection against the possibility of travel delays.
I choose Gloria Steinem’s “My Life on the Road.” It seemed a fitting book for a long trip. In the book, Steinem explores the role of travel which is “the most important, longest-running, yet least visible part of my life.” Travel changed who she thought she was. As she so eloquently wrote, “The road is messy in the way that real life is messy. It leads us out of denial and into reality, out of theory and into practice, out of caution and into action, out of statistics and into stories – in short, out of our heads and into our hearts.”
Suffice to say, I returned to New Hampshire with a greater appreciation of travel, Gloria Steinem, and the ease of downloading an e-book.
While I can’t help you with travel and it could be that Gloria Steinem isn’t your cup of tea, I can help you with downloading an e-book! Call or email the library to set up an appointment to learn how. In fifteen minutes, you will have access to this book and 9000 other titles – with more coming every month.
