The best way to support library programs and services is to donate to the Friends of the Library, a 501(c)3 non-profit. Their primary mission is to raise funds for items and programs that are not included in the library's annual budget. They believe in the importance of supporting and enhancing our library for current and future readers. In 2023, the Friends funded our Summer Reading special programs and all of our Museum Passes.

The 1833 Society stewards funds in support of the PTL Endowment Trust Fund. This fund exists to plan for the needs of the future. The majority of the library trust funds were depleted to complete the beautiful 2021 renovation. Together with the Library Trustees, the 1833 Society is committed to building back this important fund to keep the library vibrant and supported into the future.

Donate Stocks or Mutual Funds
If you have investments that have appreciated in value, you may want to consider gifting such assets to maximize your charitable gift and tax benefit.
Gifting investments that have appreciated in value allows you to deduct the fair market value of those securities as a charitable gift and you could avoid capital gains tax that would have resulted if you sold the investment. By donating the appreciated investment, you will receive more benefit than selling it and making a cash gift.
Donating stocks and securities is easy to do and can have a significant impact on ensuring the future of our library and supporting community access to knowledge for all citizens of Peterborough. To transfer gifts of appreciated securities to the Peterborough Town Library Trustees, the Trustees have a brokerage account as a pass-through for your securities donation, which will be converted to cash which is transferred immediately to the Library Trustees. Talk to your broker or financial advisor about these options.
As it may be difficult to identify the source of stock donations, please contact the Library Director, Corinne Chronopoulos, at 603.924.8045 or via email at Corinne@PeterboroughNH.gov before your transfer so your gift can be properly acknowledged.
