As we grapple with how artists, institutions, and societies should engage with AI, Peterborough Town Library has brought together a group of local creatives to discuss the larger ethical and cultural implications of AI. Hear firsthand how these artists are responding to the challenges & opportunities brought about by this transformative new technology.
The program will include short presentations by the speakers, a panel discussion moderated by Program & Outreach Librarian, Rebecca Enman, and audience Q&A.
About the Panelists:
Rachelle Beaudoin is an artist who uses video, wearables, and performance to explore feminist identity within popular and online culture. She attended the College of the Holy Cross and holds a Master’s degree in Digital+Media from Rhode Island School of Design. She has exhibited nationally and internationally. She was a Fulbright Core Scholar artist-in-residence at quartier21 in Vienna, Austria in 2014, working with feminist hacker collective Mz. Baltazar’ s Laboratory. Rachelle lives in New Hampshire and teaches at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.
Sarah Gingras is a Peterborough-based graphic designer, multimedia artist, and graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Her diverse practice spans photography, mixed-media illustration, digital fabrication, sonic art, and instrument making. She serves on the committee of PTL's Community Art Gallery.
Roy Schlieben has been with Peterborough's MAXT Makerspace as its Executive Director since its founding – first as a volunteer and then as a full-time employee since 2018. Roy is a Peterborough native and is passionate about community and about the power of making. His first love is woodworking, but he now can be found dabbling in pretty much everything MAXT does. Before MAXT, Roy worked as a non-profit fundraising consultant in New Hampshire and previously worked on international development programming around the world.
