The mission of the Student Page Program at the Peterborough Town Library is to provide local teens with hands-on experience in a public library setting while helping them develop foundational career skills. Under the supervision of the Head of Youth Services, Student Pages will gain valuable transferable skills and have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of their role in the library and the broader community it serves.
The job consists of sorting and shelving library books and materials in the Children’s Room, and helping to maintain the appearance of children’s spaces through tasks like: shelf reading, straightening, shifting materials, and tidying play areas.
The Student Page position is part-time during after school hours, up to four hours a week at $15 an hour. This is the perfect opportunity for a student between the ages of 15-18 interested in learning about the public library. This position will begin in the Fall of 2025 and run through the end of May 2026 with the possibility for summer employment as well.

Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Schedule: 8-15 hours per week including Tuesday and Friday afternoons and one Saturday per month.
The Peterborough Town Library is seeking a friendly and welcoming library assistant to join our youth services team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with young people of all ages and have familiarity with children’s literature. Library experience is preferred. Responsibilities include circulating items, making reading suggestions for all ages, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for families. They must also be able to comfortably multitask while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Peterborough Town Library enjoys an average of two hundred visits per day. We have a small but mighty staff serving hundreds of families with high circulation of children’s materials and strong attendance at youth programs.
